Kolhapur: A City of Spiritual Heritage

Kolhapur is a spiritually vibrant city in southern Maharashtra, well known for the historic temple of Mahalakshmi Devi and its deep-rooted traditions of bhakti and saintly culture. This land has been sanctified by the presence of many great saints such as Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Tukaram, and Sant Namdev. Continuing this tradition of devotion, ISKCON Kolhapur has become a hub for spiritual seekers inspired by the teachings of Lord Krishna as presented by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

The Beginning of ISKCON in Kolhapur

ISKCON's journey in Kolhapur began with the preaching efforts of Srila Prabhupada's sincere followers who brought the message of Krishna Consciousness to this holy city. The seeds of this movement were sown in the late 1990s and gained momentum under the guidance of dedicated preachers and well-wishers. Gradually, small programs turned into a full-fledged temple project, and a strong community of devotees emerged.

Temple Construction and Deity Installation

With the support of devotees and the blessings of senior ISKCON leaders, the construction of the beautiful temple of Sri Sri Radha Krishna and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai began. After years of hard work and dedication, the deities of Sri Sri Radha Madhav were grandly installed in a majestic temple, drawing devotees from Kolhapur and nearby districts to serve and worship the Lord.

Key Festivals and Milestones

The temple became a center for grand spiritual celebrations such as:
